What to do with your clothing donations during a pandemic?

So you finally stop procrastinating and decided to clean out your closet. Congratulations, I know there hasn’t been a lot of motivation to tackle the task given our stay at home status.  And now that you’ve done all the sorting and assessing (those who participated in the closet cleaning workshops know how crucial this step is), you’re stuck with bags of give-aways lining the floor (and maybe in view of your zoom calls).

Due to the pandemic almost all donation sites have been shut down.  And probably won’t start processing your clothing contributions for a while.  I have found 2 online services that will pick up your cast-offs and provide prepaid mailing labels which basically eliminates any reason for you not to release what you no longer love.

Soles 4 Souls - accepts clothing and gently worn footwear.

Give Back Box - accepts the aforementioned and LEGOS!

Full disclosure: I’ve not personally worked with either of these charities.  I do plan to make a contribution to Soles 4 Souls once I determine what won’t sell on Poshmark post Spring closet cleaning.

Pro Tip: if you plan to use an app for reselling your clothes, set an alarm on your calendar for 30 days from the day you uploaded the listings - whatever hasn’t sold should be considered for donations.
